Palais des Sports, Toulouse December 1970 concert poster
Original first printing concert poster advertising Ella Fitzgerald at the Palais des Sports in Toulouse [France] on Wednesday, 2nd December, 1970, presented by Norman Granz and Le Hot-Club de la Haute-Garonne. Billed as ‘La grande dame du Jazz’, Fitzgerald was accompanied by a simple piano/bass/drums trio led by her longtime musical partner, Tommy Flanagan. This was Ella Fitzgerald still at the peak of her vocal powers. The album Ella in Budapest, produced by Norman Granz, was recorded on this European tour, but remained unreleased until 1999 when it was issued by Pablo Records.
Printed by Imprimerie Cleder, Toulouse, the poster measures 39.7 x 49.0 cm and is printed in red and black inks on thin, light yellow uncoated paper stock.
