Winter Gardens, Bournemouth July 1948 concert flyer

Original first printing concert flyer advertising American composer, pianist and big band leader Duke Ellington’s four performances at the Winter Gardens in Bournemouth [England] commencing 5th July, 1948. The concerts were part of Ellington’s Summer 1948 European tour with only Ray Nance and singer Kay Davis but usually accompanied by the Jack Fallon Rhythm Trio. Duke Ellington returned to Europe with his full orchestra in May 1950.

The flyer measures 12.6 x 20.1 cm and is beautifully printed in blue ink on thin, coated paper stock. Folded twice, else in near excellent unmarked condition. Photo of the back of the flyer available on request.
