Description

Palais des Beaux-Arts, Brussels November 1980 concert poster

Original first printing concert poster advertising the Dizzy Gillespie Quartet at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels [Belgium] on Monday, 3rd November, 1980, with the John Abercrombie Quartet and the Chico Freeman Quartet also on the bill. Besides the leader himself, Dizzy’s quartet consisted of guitarist Ed Cherry, bassist Michael Howell, and drummer Tommy Campbell, with saxophonist James Moody making a guest appearance. Chico Freeman was accompanied by pianist Michael Cochrane, bassist Buster Willams, and drummer Dannie Richmond. Richmond, of course, had been with Charles Mingus since 1957 and became the first musical director of the Mingus Dynasty in 1980.

The poster measures 56.1 x 83.0 cm (approx. 22.1″ by 32.7″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, uncoated paper stock. Very light edge wear to the center of the left side border, else in excellent unfolded and unmarked condition. Additional photos available on request.
