Miles Davis 1981 Japanese CBS/Sony Inc promo poster

Original first printing Miles Davis promotional poster issued by CBS/Sony in 1981 to coincide with Miles’ October 1981 Japanese tour, in support of The Man with the Horn — a studio album, produced by Teo Macero and released in July 1981 by Columbia Records. It was Miles’ first new release since 1975, following a six-year reclusive retirement. The album marked a return to his more traditional trumpet playing, although the title song “The Man with the Horn” features wah-wah improvisation along with vocals. The band for the Japanese tour featured bassist Marcus Miller, saxophonist Bill Evans, drummer Al Foster, guitarist Mike Stern, and percussionist Mino Cinelu.

The poster measures 83.9 x 59.6 cm (approx. 33″ by 23.4″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, coated paper stock. Light edge wear to the top border, else in near excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
