1972 Japanese Yamaha Corporation promo poster

Original double-sided first printing Chick Corea promotional poster issued by Yamaha Corporation in Japan in July 1972 as part of their ‘Artist of the Month’ series. By this time, Corea had been busy at New York’s A&R Studios recording the jazz fusion album Return to Forever, an album that simultaneously functioned as the debut album by the band of the same name. Produced by German record producer Manfred Eicher and released on Eicher’s own ECM Records, Return to Forever is considered one of the classic albums in electric jazz. It wasn’t released in the USA until 1975. The poster features a striking photo of Corea credited to Akiyoshi Miyashita, with the artist’s imprint to the bottom right corner. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.

The poster measures 51.7 x 73.1 cm (approx. 20.3″ by 28.8″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, dull-coated paper stock. In excellent unfolded condition, clean and unmarked. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
