Jahrhunderthalle, Frankfurt April 1978 concert poster (Günther Kieser)
Original first printing concert poster advertising American jazz pianist and composer Chick Corea at the Jahrhunderthalle in Frankfurt [Germany] on Thursday, 6th April, 1978, presented by Fritz Rau and Michael Scheller. Corea was touring Europe in support of The Mad Hatter — a concept album inspired by Lewis Carroll’s novel Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Recorded at Kendun Recorders in Burbank and produced by Corea himself, the album was released in early 1978 by Polydor Records. For the European tour, Chick Corea was accompanied by a 13-piece band that included vocalist and keyboard player Gayle Moran. Moran was a member of the Mahavishnu Orchestra during the mid-1970s, appearing on Apocalypse (1974) and Visions of the Emerald Beyond (1975). The poster features uncredited artwork by noted German graphic designer Günther Kieser.
The poster measures 59.5 x 84.2 cm and is printed on thin, uncoated paper stock. Folded horizontally at the middle with a small perforation beneath Corea’s right eye, else in near excellent condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
