1977 Japanese RSO Records promo poster
Original first printing Eric Clapton (1945) promotional poster issued by RSO Records in Japan in 1977, presumably to promote the release of the Slowhand album, his fifth solo studio album, produced by Glyn Johns, and released on 25th November, 1977. Containing the hit singles “Lay Down Sally” and “Wonderful Tonight”, Slowhand is one of Clapton’s most commercially and critically successful albums. Reaching #2 on the Billboard 200, the album was certified 3x Platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for selling over 3,000,000 certified units. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.
The poster measures 72.8 x 51.3 cm (approx. 28.7″ by 20.2″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, coated paper stock.
