July + October/November 1986 European concert tour program

Original vintage concert program produced for American drummer and band leader Buddy Rich’s European tour during July, October and November 1986, presented by Brian Theobald. The orchestra for the tour featured Steve Marcus, Bob Bowlby, Mike Rubino, Chris Bacas, Jay Craig (saxophones); Greg Gisbert, Eric Miyashiro, Dana Watson, Kevin Richardson (trumpets); Tom Garling, Richard Trager, James Martin (trombones); Matt Harris (piano); and Charles Bergeron (bass). The tour tourned out to be his last European tour. In early March 1987, Rich was touring in New York when he was hospitalized after suffering a paralysis on his left side believed to have been caused by a stroke. On 16th March doctors discovered and removed a brain tumor and on 2nd April, 1987, Rich died of unexpected respiratory and cardiac failure after his treatment for the malignant brain tumor. He is buried in Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles.
