Description

Kurzaal, Scheveningen & Concertgebouw, Amsterdam November 1959 concert program

Original vintage concert program produced for Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers’ two performances at the Kurhaus in Scheveningen and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam on Saturday, 14th November, 1959, presented by Lou van Rees. Two performances on the same day, even in two different cities, weren’t unusual back then, although the time schedule must have been tight. For the European tour, the Jazz Messengers consisted of trumpeter Lee Morgan, saxophonist Wayne Shorter, double bassist Jymie Merritt, and pianist Walter Davis Jr. The album Art Blakey et les Jazz Messengers au Théâtre des Champs-Élysées was recorded on this tour, originally released on the French RCA Records label in 1960.

Original b/w illustrated matte-coated two-fold brochure, 18.5 x 27.0 cm. All text in Dutch. Folded twice with light wear along the fold lines. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the program available on request.
