Concertgebouw, Amsterdam May 1958 concert flyer

Original first printing double-sided concert flyer advertising American jazz clarinetist and bandleader Benny Goodman’s performance at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam [Netherlands] on Wednesday, 14th May, 1958, commencing at 11.30 PM and presented by Lou van Rees. Goodman’s orchestra for the European tour featured tenor saxophonists Zoot Sims and Al Block; alto saxophonist Nick Caiazza; baritone saxophonist Gene Allen; trumpeters Taft Jordan, Johnny Frosk, Billy Hodges, and E. V. Perry; trombonists Rex Peer, Vernon Brown, and Willie Dennis; pianist Roland Henna; guitarist Billy Bauer; bassist Arvell Shaw; drummer Roy Burns; and vocalists Ethel Ennis and Jimmy Rushing. The tour famously ended with an acclaimed week-long appearance at the Brussels World’s Fair from 25th to 31st May. These concerts took place at the American Pavilion and were extensively recorded and are now available on a 3 CD set called The Complete Benny in Brussels.

The flyer measures 17.3 x 25.8 cm and is beautifully printed in black ink on thin, uncoated paper stock. Folded twice with a touch of light surface handling wear. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the flyer available on request.
