Stadthalle, Kassel November 1968 concert poster

Original first printing concert poster advertising English jazz trombonist and bandleader Chris Barber (1930–2021) at the Stadthalle in Kassel [Germany] on Thursday, 28th November, 1968, with Northern Irish blues singer Ottilie Patterson (1932–2011), and presented by Stadtjugendpflege Kassel. Barber’s band at the time featured banjo player Stu Morrison, guitarist John Slaughter, bassist Jackie Flavelle, drummer Graham Burbidge, trumpeter Pat Halcox, and clarinestist John Crocker. Prior to the Kassel show, Barber had played three consecutive concerts at the Friedrichstadt-Palast in East Berlin from 25th to 27th November. Due to poor health, Ottilie Patterson was on stage for only one of the three evenings. The concerts were recorded and eventually released as Chris Barber in Berlin by Amiga. The poster features artwork that was originally used for Barber’s May 1960 German tour.

The poster measures 59.1 x 83.7 cm and is printed in red and black inks on thin, uncoated paper stock. Some creasing to the bottom left corner and a tiny rip to the left side border, else in near excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
