Colston Hall, Bristol March 1959 concert flyer


Original first printing concert flyer advertising Louis Armstrong’s two performances at the Colston Hall in Bristol [England] on Friday, 6th March, 1959, presented by Charles Lockier by arrangement with Harold Davison. The shows in Bristol were part of Armstrong’s February/March 1959 British tour, his only second nationwide tour of Great Britain, commencing at Gaumont State in Kilburn on 28th february and ending at the De Montfort Hall in Leicester on 11th March. The All-Stars consisted of trombonist Trummy Young, clarinetist Peanuts Hucko, pianist Billy Kyle, bassist Mort Herbert, drummer Danny Barcelona, singer Velma Middleton.

The flyer measures 14.0 x 24.7 cm (approx. 5.5″ by 9.7″ inches) and is printed in orange and black inks on thin, matte-coated paper stock. Complete with the original postal booking form still intact. A couple of tiny rips to the top border, else in excellent unfolded condition. Photo of the back of the flyer available on request.
