Holborn Empire, London May 1939 concert program

Original vintage concert program produced for Jack Hylton and His Band, featuring American jazz tenor saxophonist Coleman Hawkins, at the Holborn Empire in London [England] on Monday, 22nd May, 1939. In late 1934, Hawkins had accepted an invitation to play with Jack Hylton’s orchestra in London, and toured Europe as a soloist until 1939. The program features beautiful artwork by British painter and commercial poster artist Tom Purvis (1888-1959).

One sheet folded into 4 pages, beautifully printed on thin uncoated paper stock, 18.4 x 24.9 cm. Folded twice horizontally with a touch of light handling wear and a piece missing to the bottom right corner. Additional photos available on request.
