Large original first printing concert poster Canadian singer-songwriter and poet Leonard Cohen at the O2 World in Berlin [Germany] on Thursday, 2nd July, 2009. The show in Berlin was thesecond stop on another marathon European tour during July, August and September, visiting no less than seventeen different countries en route. Cohen’s touring band included bassist Roscoe Beck, drummer Rafael Bernardo Gayol, jazz keyboardist Neil Larsen, and guitarist Bob Metzger, as well as background singers Sharon Robinson, Charley Webb, and Hattie Webb. Cohen was touring in support of the Live in London album, recorded at London’s O2 Arena on 17th July, 2008, and produced by Steven Berkowitz and Edward Sanders. Released on 31st March, 2009 by Columbia Records, the album peaked at #112 on the Billboard 200. The album was long listed for the Polaris Music Prize. Cohen’s humility and self-deprecating sense of humor is evident in the between-song banter throughout the London performance, with him telling the audience, “It’s been a long time since I stood on a stage in London. It was about 14 or 15 years ago. I was 60 years old, just a kid with a crazy dream. Since then I’ve taken a lot of Prozac, Paxil, Wellbutrin, Effexor, Ritalin, Focalin. I’ve also studied deeply in the philosophies of the religions but cheerfulness kept breaking through.” The poster features a photograph by Loca Cohen, with the artist’s imprint to the lower left side border.
