1989 Japanese Reprise/Warner-Pioneer Corporation promo poster
Original first printing Eric Clapton promotional poster issued by Reprise/Warner-Pioneer Corporation in Japan in 1989, presumably to promote the release of the Journeyman album – Clapton’s eleventh solo studio album, produced by Russ Titelman, and originally released in November 1989 on Duck Records/Reprise. Containing the singles “Pretending”, “Bad Love”, and “No Alibis”, the album peaked at #16 on the Billboard 200 in November 1989, and stayed on the charts for 51 weeks. It was certified 2x Platinum in March 1991 by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for sales exceeding two million copies in the US alone. In the UK the album reached #2 and was certified Platinum by the BPI (British Phonographic Industry) for sales exceeding 300,000 copies. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.
