1977 Japanese Warner-Pioneer Corporation promo poster for “Footloose & Fancy Free”
Large original first printing Rod Stewart promotional poster issued by Warner-Pioneer Corporation in Japan in 1977 to promote the release of the Footloose & Fancy Free album – his eighth studio album, produced by Tom Dowd, and originally released in November 1977 on Riva Records. Containing the singles “You’re in My Heart (The Final Acclaim)”, “Hot Legs”, “I Was Only Joking”, and “You Keep Me Hangin’ On”, the album was a huge commercial success and reached #2 on the Billboard 200 in November 1977. It stayed on the charts for 47 weeks and was certified 3x Platinum in October 1984 by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for sales exceeding three million copies in the US alone. In the UK, the album was certified Platinum by the BPI in December 1977. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.
