1996 Japanese Prestige/Victor JVC promo poster
Original first printing Charles Mingus (1922–1979) promotional poster issued by Prestige/Victor JVC in Japan as part of the Masters of Jazz series, a CD reissues series that ran from March 1996 to September 1997. Victor Music Industries manufactured and reissued the Prestige catalog on vinyl in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Generally considered to be one of the greatest jazz musicians and composers in the history of jazz, Mingus died on 5th January, 1979, aged 56. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.
The poster measures 41.8 x 59.3 cm (approx. 16.4″ by 23.3″ inches) and is beautifully printed on medium-thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. In excellent unfolded and unmarked condition.
