1979 Japanese CBS/Sony Inc. promo poster for “Gimme Some Neck”

Original first printing Ron Wood (1947) promotional poster issued by CBS/Sony Inc. in Japan in 1979 to promote the release of Gimme Some Neck – his third solo studio album, produced by Roy Thomas Baker, and released on 20th April, 1979 on Columbia Records. Containing a rendition of Bob Dylan’s “Seven Days”, the album was a minor hit, peaking at #45 on the Billboard 200. It was a minor hit and his best performance on the US charts to date, peaking at number 45 on Billboard during a 13-week chart run. The artwork for the album features illustrations drawn by Wood, with a self-portrait in the center of the front side. To tour the United States in support of the album, Wood formed The New Barbarians with musicians including Keith Richards, Ian McLagan and Bobby keys,  all of whom contributed to the recording. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.

The poster measures 51.2 x 72.3 cm (approx. 20.1″ by 28.5″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, coated paper stock. Unfolded, but with a tack hole to each corner, and light sporadic surface handling wear. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
