Stadthalle, Erlangen May 1978 concert poster
Original first printing concert poster advertising English rock group The Small Faces at the Stadthalle in Erlangen [Germany] on Wednesday, 24th May, 1978, presented by Interteam Tour Promotion. The band were touring Europe in support of 78 in the Shade, their fifth studio album, produced by the band members themselves (as Kemastri, a commingling of the members’ first names), and released in 1978 on Atlantic Records. Following the breakup of The Faces in 1975, the original Small Faces line-up reformed briefly to film videos miming to the reissued “Itchycoo Park” which hit the charts again. The group tried recording together again but Ronnie Lane left after the first rehearsal due to an argument. Ian McLagan, Kenney Jones and Steve Marriott decided to stay together as Small Faces, recruiting ex-Roxy Music bassist Rick Willis to take Lane’s place. This iteration of Small Faces recorded the albums, Playmates and 78 in the Shade, but the reunion albums were both critical and commercial failures. The Small Faces broke up again in 1978 soon after the tour.
The poster measures 59.1 x 83.8 cm (approx. 23.3 by 33 inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. In excellent unfolded and unmarked condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
