Stadthalle, Bremen April 1976 concert poster
Original first printing concert poster advertising British singer-songwriter Cat Stevens at the Stadthalle in Bremen [Germany] on Tuesday, 27th April, 1976, presented by MAMA Concerts. The concert in Bremen was part of the second European leg of the Majikat tour in support of the Numbers album. Recorded at the Le Studio in Morin Heights, Quebec and produced by Cat Stevens himself, the album was released on 30th November, 1975 on Island Records. Subtitled “A Pythagorean Theory Tale,” Numbers was a concept album relating to a faraway planet called Polygor, and its people, the Polygons. Though it featured the hit single “Banapple Gas”, the album sold far less than any of his last four albums and was considered a critical failure, confusing both fans and critics alike by the concept and the lack of “pop-ready” music. At one point A&M Records (his American record label) contemplated terminating his contract, but he still had two albums left to make for them. Stevens continued to be bitter about the process of fame and the pressures to make money for his label, and distanced himself from participating in promotion for the album.
The poster measures 59.2 x 83.9 cm (approx. 23.3″ by 33″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. In excellent unfolded condition with a tiny closed rip to the center of the top border. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
