Rheinhalle, Düsseldorf November 1968 concert flyer

Original first printing concert flyer advertising advertising American jazz organist Jimmy Smith (1928–2005) at the Rheinhalle in Düsseldorf [Germany] on Monday, 25th November, 1968, accompanied by guitarist Nathan H. Page and drummer Donald Bailey. Born on 8th December, 1928, Jimmy Smith ruled the Hammond organ in the 1950’s and 1960’s. He revolutionized the instrument, showing it could be creatively used in a jazz context and popularized in the process. He turned the organ into almost an ensemble itself, playing walking bass lines and chordal accompaniment with his left hand, while solos were played with his right hand.  Jimmy Smith passed away on 8th February, 2005.

The flyer measures 14.4 x 20.3 cm (approx. 5.6″ by 8″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. In excellent unfolded and unmarked condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the flyer available on request.
