Theatre Royal, Exeter October 1958 concert program

Original vintage concert program produced for American jazz/blues singer Jimmy Rushing’s two concerts at the Theatre Royal in Exeter [England] on 6th and 7th October, 1958, accompanied by British trumpeter Humphrey Lyttelton and his band. Lyttelton’s ensemble featured trombonist John Picard, tenor saxophonist Jimmy Skidmore, alto saxophonist Tony Coe, baritone saxophonist Joe Temperley, pianist Ian Armit, bassist Brian Brocklehurst, and drummer Eddie Taylor. Rushing had come to Britain at Lyttelton’s invitation to appear with his band. It was his second tour with the band and before he returned to America, he did a broadcast with Lyttelton on the BBC’s regular Jazz Club programme. The broadcast was released on CD in April 2008 as The Humphrey Lyttelton Big Band with Jimmy Rushing by the Upbeat Jazz label.

One sheet folded into four pages, 14.0 x 21.5 cm. Folded horizontally at the middle with a tiny cut at the top, else in near excellent condition. Additional images of the program available on request.
