Stadsteater, Uppsala March 1977 concert poster
Original first printing concert poster advertising American drummer and band leader Buddy Rich (1917–1987) at the Stadsteater in Uppsala [Sweden] on Sunday, 20th March, 1977, presented by Bo Johnson. The concert in Uppsala was part of Rich’s tour of continental Europe during March 1977, commencing at the Sala Kongresowa in Warsaw on 1st March and ended at the famous Montmartre in Copenhagen on 30th March, 1977. The band for the European tour featured David Stahl, Dean Pratt, Ross Konikoff, John Marshall (trumpets); Rick Stepton, Clinton Sharman, David Boyle (trombones); Alan Gauvin, Dean Palanzo, Steve Marcus, Bob Mintzer, Mauro Turso (saxophones); Barry Kiener (keyboards); Joshua Rich (guitar); and Thomas Warrington (bass). With many of these musicians, Rich recorded the Buddy Rich Plays and Plays and Plays album, released by RCA Records in 1977. As the title would suggest, the album Europe 77, released in 1993 on the UK label Magic, was recorded on this tour.
The poster measures 45.1 x 62.0 cm (approx. 17.7″ by 24.4″ inches) and is beautifully printed in black ink on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. In excellent unfolded and unmarked condition.
