Cecil Theatre, Hull December 1970 concert flyer
Original first printing concert handbill advertising the great Oscar Peterson at the Cecil Theatre in Hull [England] on Tuesday, 1st December, 1970, accompanied by bassist George Mraz and drummer Ray Price, and presented by Westfield Productions by arrangement with Harold Davison. For the tour bassist Sam Jones and drummer Bobby Durham were replaced by George “Jiri” Mraz and Ray Price, respectively. With this new group, Peterson had recorded the album Walking the Line. Recorded at MPS-Studios in Villingen, Germany and produced by Hans Georg Brunner-Schwer, the album . His mastery of the ballad form is heard in his sensitive interpretation of “Once Upon a Summertime”, which also showcases Mraz’s gorgeous tone.
The flyer measures 13.3 x 21.6 cm and is beautifully printed in turquoise ink on thin, delicate uncoated paper stock. Complete with the original postal booking form still intact.
