1993 Japanese Geffen/MCA Victor promotional poster for “In Utero”
Original first printing Nirvana promotional poster issued by Geffen/MCA Victor in Japan in 1993 to promote the release of the In Utero album, the band’s third and final studio album, produced by Steve Albini, and originally released in September 1993 on DGC Records (an initialism for the David Geffen Company). It was the final Nirvana album before Kurt Cobain’s suicide in April 1994, six months after the album’s release. Containing the singles “Heart-Shapen Box” and “All Apologies”, the album was a major commercial and critical success and reached #1 on the Billboard 200 in October 1993, and stayed on the chart for 94 weeks. Bleach was certified 5x Platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) in October 1996 for sales exceeding 5,000,000 copies in the US alone. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.
The poster measures 51.3 x 72.7 cm (approx. 20.2″ by 28.6″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, coated paper stock. In excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
