Majestic, Antwerp October 1959 concert program 


Original vintage concert program produced for the Newport Jazz Festival staged at the Majestic in Antwerp [Belgium] on Thursday, 29th October, 1959. Produced and presented by George Wein and Willis Conover, the performing artists included the Dizzy Gillespie Quintet and the Buck Clayton All Stars with the great Jimmy Rushing. Besides the leader himself, Dizzy’s quintet featured alto saxophonist and flautist Leo Wright, pianist Junior Mance, bassist Art Davis, and drummer Les Humphrey, while Clayton’s group featured trumpeter Emmett Berry, trombonist Dickie Wells, tenor saxophonist Buddy Tate, alto saxophonist Earl Warren, pianist Al Williams, bassist Gene Ramey, and drummer Herbie Lovelle.
