Musikhalle, Hamburg March 1962 concert poster (Michel+Kieser)
Original vintage first printing concert poster advertising Jazz At The Philharmonic at the Musikhalle in Hamburg [Germany] on Saturday, 24th March, 1962, presented by Norman Granz in association with Kurt Collien. Performing artists included Ella Fitzgerald, the Oscar Peterson Trio, and the Paul Smith Trio. The poster features striking artwork by famous graphic duo, Hans Michel and Günther Kieser, with the artists’ imprint to the centre of the left side border. Printed by P. R. Wilk, Frankfurt, with printer’s imprint to the bottom right corner.
The poster measures 83.8 x 59.7 cm and is beautifully printed in purple and black inks on thin, uncoated paper stock. The poster has been neatly machine folded and is in excellent condition with very little edge wear to the bottom left corner and a couple of tiny rips to the left side border.
