Schleyerhalle, Stuttgart September 1986 concert poster

Original first printing concert poster advertising American jazz and R&B singer Al Jarreau (1940–2017) at the Schleyerhalle in Stuttgart [Germany] on Tuesday, 23rd September, 1986, presented by Lippmann+Rau in cooperation with Südwestdeutsche Konzertdirektion. Billed as a “concert for lovers”, the concert in Stuttgart was part of Jarreau’s Fall 1986 European tour in support of L Is for Lover – his eighth studio album, produced by Nile Rodgers, and released on 8th September, 1986 by Warner Bros. Records. Featuring the singles “L Is for Lover”, “Tell Me What I Gotta Do”, and “Give a Little More Lovin'”, the album peaked at #30 on the Billboard Top Soul Albums chart, #9 on the Traditional Jazz Albums chart, and #17 on the Contemporary Jazz Albums chart. Not a commercial hit, producer Nile Rodgers later called it “the best thing I ever made that didn’t sell”.

The poster measures 83.9 x 59.8 cm (approx. 33″ by 23.5″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin coated paper stock. In excellent unfolded and unmarked condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
