1981 Japanese Virgin/Victor Records promo poster for “Tin Drum”
Original first first printing Japan promotional poster issued by Virgin/Victor Records in Japan in 1981 to promote the release of the Tin Drum album – the band’s fifth and final album, produced by Steve Nye and John Punter, and originally released on 13th November, 1981 on Virgin Records. Tin Drum continued the band’s now-established mix of electronic elements with traditional instrumentation, but leans far more towards Far Eastern influences than any of their previous albums. It has received acclaim as the band’s best and most original work. Containing the top five single “Ghosts”, the album peaked at #12 on UK Albums Chart and was certified Gold by the BPI (British Phonographic Industry) for sales in excess of 100,00 copies. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.
