Description

Tor 3, Düsseldorf February 1989 concert poster

Original first printing concert poster advertising The Harlem Blues & Jazz Band at the Tor 3 in Düsseldorf [Germany] on Thursday, 4th May, 1989, presented by René Heinersdorff. The ensemble was initiated by jazz aficionado Al Vollmer in 1973, noting that a significant pool of jazz musicians who had played in the 1920s and 1930s lived in New York City and had retired as musicians. Its first bandleader was trombonist Clyde Bernhardt, who had worked with King Oliver in the 1930s. Bernhardt was replaced as bandleader in 1980 by Bobby Williams.

The poster measures 83.8 x 59.3 cm and is beautifully printed on thin, light coated paper stock. Light edge wear to the far left of the top border, else in near excellent unfolded condition. Additional photos available on request.
