Palais des Beaux-Arts, Brussels September 1953 concert flyer
Original first printing concert flyer advertising American vibraphonist, pianist, percussionist, and bandleader Lionel Hampton (1908–2002) at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels [Belgium] on Sunday, 20th September, 1953, presented by Hot Club de Belgique. The Brussels show was part of an extended European tour with arguably the finest bunch of musicians Hamp has ever assembled. The orchestra at the time included trumpeters Clifford Brown, Art Farmer and Quincy Jones, trombonist James Cleveland, tenor Clifford Scott, and pianist George Wallington. The back of the flyer lists upcoming jazz events in various Belgian cities during August/November 1953, including concerts with Stan Kenton and Count Basie.
The flyer measures 21.0 x 15.0 cm and is beautifully printed on both sides in blue and black inks on medium-thin, uncoated paper stock.
