Stadthalle, Bremen October 1972 concert poster
Original first printing concert poster advertising American rock and roll pioneer Bill Haley at the Stadthalle in Bremen [Germany] on Tuesday, 3rd October, 1972, presented by F.I.P. Hannover. Benefiting from a 1950s nostalgia movement that began in the late 1960s and the signing of a lucrative record deal with the European Sonet label, Haley and his backing band, The Comets, continued to be a popular touring act during the 1970s. Haley made his final performances in South Africa in May and June 1980. Before the South African tour, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and a planned tour of Germany in the autumn of 1980 was cancelled. Bill Haley died on 9th February, 1981 at the age of 55 at his home in Harlingen, Texas. He was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. With million-selling hits such as “Rock Around the Clock”, “See You Later, Alligator”, “Shake, Rattle and Roll”, “Rocket88”, “Skinny Minnie”, and “Razzle Dazzle”, Haley sold over 60 million records worldwide.
The poster measures 59.0 x 84.0 cm (approx. 23.2″ by 33.1″ inches) and is beautifully printed in black ink on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. In excellent unfolded and unmarked condition.
