Description
1971 Japanese Atlantic Records promo poster
Original first printing Emerson, Lake & Palmer promotional poster issued by Atlantic Records in Japan in 1971 (Warner-Pioneer Corporation didn’t start to distribute the Atlantic Records catalog until 1972) to promote the release of the Tarkus album – the band’s only second studio album, produced by Greg Lake, and released on 14th June, 1971. Although it is now considered a quintessential progressive rock album, Tarkus received generally unfavourable reviews from critics upon its release. Yet it was one of only two ELP studio albums to reach the Top 10 in the United States, making it to #9 on the Billboard 200 album chart and certified Gold by the RIAA shortly after its release. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.
The poster measures 72.7 x 51.4 cm (approx. 28.6″ by 20.2″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, dull-coated paper stock. In excellent unfolded condition, clean and unmarked. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
