Grand Amphitheatre, Marseille March 1964 concert poster

Original first printing concert poster advertising Duke Ellington and His Orchestra at the Grand Amphitheatre in Marseille [France] on Tuesday, 17th March, 1964, presented by L’Association des Internes des Hopitaux de Marseille. The orchestra for the European tour featured Cat Anderson, Herbie Jones, Rolf Erickson, and Cootie Williams (trumpets); Lawrence Brown, Buster Cooper, and Chuck Connors (trombones); Johnny Hodges, Paul Gonsalves, Jimmy Hamilton, Russell Procope, and Harry Carney (saxophones and clarinets); Sam Woodyard (drums) and Ernie Shephard (bass).

The poster measures 32.0 x 49.7 cm and is printed on thin, matte-coated paper stock (coated on front only). Printer’s imprint (Imp. Ricard S.A.F., Marseille) to the bottom left corner.
