Trocadero Cinema, London June 1933 concert program + hand painted multiple signed card

Original vintage concert program for American composer, pianist and big band leader Duke Ellington’s performance at the Trocadero Cinema in London on 25th June, 1933, presented by Jack Hylton by arrangement with Ellington’s manager Irving Mills. Laid in is a wonderful hand painted card (12.6 x 16.4 cm) which has been neatly signed by the entire band (except Ellington): Joseph Nanton (trombone), Charlie Williams (trumpet), Juan Tinol (trombone), Barney Bigard (sax), Fred Guy (guitar), Johnny Hodges (sax), Harry Carney (sax), Otto Hardwick (sax), Arthur Whetsel (trumpet), Freddy Jenkins (trumpet), Wellman Braud (bass), Lawrence Brown (trombone), and Sonny Greer (drums). Original owner has signed and dated the program on the front.

In original uncoated illustrated wrappers, 23.0 x 30.0 cm, staple bound, 24 pp plus covers. The program has been folded vertically with signs of wear to spine and extremities. Staples a little rusty and some pages have become a little loose around the staples. There is a 5 cm closed tear to the left side of the center page. Overall still in very good condition considering it is well over 80 years old. Additional photos available on request.
