De Doelen, Rotterdam November 1973 concert poster
Large vintage original first printing concert poster advertising the “Newport Jazz Festival in Rotterdam” held at De Doelen in Rotterdam [Holland] from 16th to 18th November, 1973, presented by George Wein in association with Dutch promoter Paul Acket. Performing artists included Sarah Vaughan, The Young Giants of Jazz, B.B. King, Miles Davis, and Duke Ellington. Miles Davis’ band for the concert featured Dave Liebman (tenor), Reggie Lucas (guitar), Pete Cosey (guitar), Michael Henderson (bass), James Forman Mtume (congas), and Al Foster (drums). Miles wouldn’t tour in Europe again until 1982. Never seen another one of these.
The poster is huge and measures 82.8 x 115.6 cm (approx. 32.6″ by 45.5″ inches) and is beautifully printed in red and black inks on thin, light coated paper stock (coated on front only). Folded as issued with light wear along the fold lines and sporadic tack holes to the borders and a 3 inch closed tear to the top right corner. Additional photos available on request.
