1986 Japanese SMS Records promo poster for “The Puzzle”

Original first printing Ron Carter (1937) promotional poster issued by SMS Records in 1986 to promote the release of The Puzzle – a live album recorded at the Kan’i Hoken Hall in Tokyo on 28th May, 1986. Carter, who played piccolo bass on the album, was accompanied by pianist Sir Roland Hanna, percussionist Kenyatte Abdur-Rahman, drummer Lewis Nash, and bassist Leon S. Maleson. SMS Records is a Japanese label whose parent label is Sounds Marketing System, Inc. – a record company jointly established by Watanabe Production and audio equipment manufacturer Trio in 1978. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.

The poster measures 72.7 x 51.4 cm (approx. 28.6″ by 20.2″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, coated paper stock.
