De Montfort Hall, Leicester September 1970 concert flyer

Large original first printing concert handbill advertising American blues and boogie band Canned Heat at the De Montfort Hall in Leicester [England] on Wednesday, 23rd September, 1970, with Tony McPhee’s Groundhogs also on the bill. This was the second time Canned Heat were touring the UK within a year, having toured extensively in January with Keith Relf’s Renaissance. Future Blues, their fifth album, was released on 3rd August, 1970, and was the last album to feature the band’s classic lineup, as Larry Taylor and Harvey Mandel had both departed by July 1970, and songwriter Alan Wilson tragically died shortly after on 3rd September. The line-up for the UK tour featured Bob Hite, Henry Vestine, Joel Scott Hill, Antonio de la Barreda, and Adolfo de la Parra.

The flyer measures 14.1 x 21.0 cm (approx. 5.5″ by 8.2″ inches) and is beautifully printed in yellow, red and black inks on thin, coated paper stock. Complete with the original postal booking form still intact. A tack hole to each corner and a punch hole and slight paper loss to the top right corner. Else in near excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the flyer available on request.
