Göllersaal, Ziel May 1972 concert poster

Large original first printing concert poster advertising British blues and jazz outfit C.C.S. (Collective Consciousness Society) at the Göllersaal in Ziel [Germany] on Monday, 22nd May, 1972, in support of their second album, C.C.S. 2, produced by Mickie Most, and released in March 1972 on RAK Records. Containing the single “Brother”, the album reached #23 on the UK Album Chart. Formed in 1970 by musical director John Cameron and record producer Mickie Most, C.C.S. was led by British blues legend Alexis Korner, and was created primarily as a recording outfit. The personnel included singer and guitarist Peter Thorup, guitarist Alan Parker, flutist Harold McNair, bassist Herbie Flowers, keyboardist Roger Coulam, drummer Barry Morgan, and trombonists Don Lusher and Bill Geldard. C.C.S. are best known for their instrumental version of Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love”, which entered the UK Singles Chart in 1970, and was used as the theme music for the BBC pop programme Top of the Tops for most of the 1970s. C.C.S. broke up in 1973, when Korner and Thorup moved on to form the group Snape with Boz Burrell, Mel Collins, and Ian Wallace. Printed by Eichhorn-Druck, Ludwigsburg, with the printer’s imprint to the top left corner.

The poster measures 48.5 x 68.3 cm (approx. 19.1″ by 26.9″ inches) and is beautifully printed in red and black inks on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. There is a pin hole to each corner and a few tiny rips to the upper left side border, else in remarkably near excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
