Festhalle, Frankfurt September 1973 concert poster
Large original first printing concert poster advertising The Rolling Stones at the Festhalle in Frankfurt [Germany] on Sunday, 30th September, 1973, presented by Lippmann+Rau, and with virtuoso keyboardist Billy Preston as special guest artist. The show in Frankfurt was part of the group’s European tour during September and October, visiting besides Germany, Austria, England, Scotland, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, Holland, and Belgium, often playing two shows on the same day. The tour was set up to promote the release of the Goats Head Soup album, the band’s 11th British and 13th American studio album. Produced by Jimmy Miller and released on 31st August, 1973. Containing the hit single “Angie”, Goats Head Soup reached #1 in both the US and UK. The poster features iconic artwork by English art designer John Pasche (erroneously spelled Kasche), with the artist’s imprint to the top left corner.
The poster measures 59.7 x 83.9 cm (approx. 23.5″ by 33″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, dull-coated paper stock.
