Royal Albert Hall, London April 1961 concert program 

Original vintage concert program produced for Mahalia Jackson’s concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Friday, 7th April, 1961, accompanied by Mildred Falls, and presented by Norman Granz by arrangement with Harold Davison. Possessing a contralto voice, Jackson was referred to as “The Queen of Gospel”. She became one of the most influential gospel singers in the world and was heralded internationally as a singer and civil rights activist. She was described by Harry Belafonte as “the single most powerful black woman in the United States”. She recorded about 30 albums during her career, mostly for Columbia Records. Mahalia Jackson died in Chicago on 27th January, 1972, of heart failure and diabetes complications, aged 60.

In original red and black illustrated uncoated wrappers, staple bound, 17.5 x 22.0 cm, 12 pp. Program notes by Brian Nicholls.
