Description
Audimax, Hamburg July 1973 concert poster (Kieser)
Original first printing concert poster advertising English singer and songwriter Eric Burdon at the Audimax in Hamburg [Germany] on Monday, 16th July, 1973, presented by Lippmann+Rau in cooperation with local Hamburg impresario Hans-Werner Funke, and with American jump blues singer Jimmy Witherspoon as special guest artist. The pair had released the album Guilty! back in 1971, which incidentally was the first release by Burdon after he had left his band War in early 1971. Burdon’s band for the July 1973 German tour featured guitarist Aalon Butler, bassist Randy Rice, and drummer Alvin Taylor. With this line-up, Burdon recorded an album at the Record Plant in Sausalito in 1973 called Mirage. It was scheduled to be released by Atlantic Records in June 1974, but for some reason it remained unreleased until February 2008. The poster features uncredited artwork by noted graphic artist Günther Kieser.
The poster measures 59.9 x 83.7 cm (approx. 23.6″ by 33″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, coated paper stock. In near excellent unfolded and unmarked condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
