Deutsches Museum, Munich November 1967 concert poster
Original first printing concert poster advertising American jazz pianist and composer Erroll Garner (1923–1977) at the Deutsches Museum in Munich [Germany] on Saturday, 4th November, 1967, presented by Ralf Schulte-Bahrenberg in cooperation with local Munich promoter Konvera. For the European tour, Garner was accompanied by bassist Eddie Calhoun and drummer Kelly Martin. This was around the time of the release of That’s My Kick — Garner’s first traditional studio album in five years and perhaps his most ambitious album ever as a composer. The selections were surely inspired by the new array of musicians assembled for the sessions, including percussionist José Mangual, who would go on to play with Garner for rest of his career. A brilliant virtuoso who sounded unlike anyone else, Erroll Garner was one of the most distinctive of all jazz pianists. He died from lung cancer on 2nd January, 1977.
The poster measures 83.8 x 59.1 cm (approx. 33″ by 23.3″ inches) and is beautifully printed in pink and black inks on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. In excellent unfolded condition, with a tiny closed rip to the upper left side border. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
