Waldbühne, Berlin July 1983 concert poster

Original first printing concert poster advertising American singer and musician Ray Charles (1930–2004) at the Waldbühne in Berlin [Germany] on Thursday, 23rd July, 1983, presented by Concert Concept in cooperation with RIAS Berlin. The concert was part of a series of events billed as “American Summer in Berlin” that ran from 1st July to 7th August, 1983. Charles was touring Europe in support of Wish You Were Here Tonight – an album recorded at RPM Studios in Los Angeles and produced by Ray Charles himself. The album was a moderate commercial success and peaked at #29 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart. The song “Born to Love Me” was nominated for a Grammy Award, in the “Best Country Vocal Performance, Male” category.

The poster measures 84.0 x 59.2 cm (approx. 33.1″ by 23.3″ inches) and is beautifully printed in red and black inks on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. There are a couple of soft diagonal creases to the top left corner, else in excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item.
