Kanagawa Kenmin Hall, Yokohama May 1978 concert flyer
Original double-sided first printing concert flyer advertising American jazz pianist, bandleader, and composer Count Basieat the Kanagawa Kenmin Hall in Yokohama [Japan] on Tuesday, 30th May, 1978. Basie’s orchestra for the tour featured Sonny Cohn, Pete Minger, Nolan Smith, Waymon Reed (trumpets); Bill Hughes, Mel Wanzo, Dennis Wilson, Alonzo Wesley Jr. (trombones); Allen Hing, Charles Fowlkes, Bobby Plater, Eric “Big Daddy” Dixon, Danny Turner (saxophones); Freddie Green (guitar); Butch Miles (drums); John Clayton (bass); and Dennis Rowland (vocals). The concert in Yokohama was part of lengthy 15-date Japanese tour, commencing at the Koseinenkin Hall in Tokyo on Tuesday, 16th May and ending at the Nakano Sunplaza Hall, also in Tokyo, on Monday, 5th June, 1978. The album Live in Japan ’78 was recorded on this tour and released on the Pablo Live label in 1985.
