May/June 1981 Japanese concert tour poster

Original first printing concert poster advertising American jazz-fusion band Weather Report’s 10-date Japanese tour during May and June 1981, presented by Universal Orient Promotion. The band was touring Japan in support of the Night Passage album – their ninth studio, recorded at The Complex studios in Los Angeles and produced by Joe Zawinul and Jaco Pastorius. It was their first album with percussionist Robert Thomas Jr. Night Passage was Grammy nominated and Don Heckman of High Fidelity called it “one of the finest albums Weather Report has ever made”.

The poster measures 59.6 x 84.5 cm (approx. 23.4″ by 33.2″ inches) and is printed on thin, coated paper stock. Unfolded, but with pin holes and slight paper loss to the corners.
