Shiba Postal Savings Hall, Tokyo January 1979 concert poster
Original first printing concert poster advertising Jamaican jazz pianist Monty Alexander at the Shiba Postal Savings Hall in Tokyo [Japan] on Monday, 15th January, 1979, presented by All Art Promotion in cooperation with Polydor Records. For the Japanese tour, Alexander was accompanied by bassist Andy Simkins and drummer Frank Gant. The album In Tokyo, featuring Simkins and Gant, was recorded on this tour and released by Pablo Records that same year. The poster feateres artwork by Katsuji Abe from a photo by N. Hayashi, with the artists’ imprint to the bottom right corner.
