Teatro Alfieri, Turin April 1967 concert poster

Original first printing concert poster advertising American singer and musician Ray Charles (1930–2004) at the Teatro Alfieri in Turin [Italy] on Tuesday, 11th April, 1967, presented by Francesco Sanavio. This was around the time of the release of Ray Charles Invites You to Listen, described by biographer Mike Evans as “one of the most remarkable recordings of his career”. The Raelettes consisted of Gwendolyn Berry, Merry Clayton, Clydie King, and Alexandra Brown, while the orchestra featured William King, Marshall Hunt, Walter Miller, and Carl Adams (trumpets); Henry Coker, Fred Murrell, Donald Cooke, and Frederic Johnson (trombones); Joe Roccisan, Curtis Amy, Curtis Peagler, Shellie Thomas, and Leroy Cooper (saxes), Lionel (Billy) Moore (drums); Barry Rilera (guitar); and Edgar Willis (bass).

The poster measures 34.7 x 61.5 cm and is printed in red and black inks on thin, matte-coated paper stock (coated on front only). Unfolded, but with light overall surface handling wear. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
