Salle des Congrès and Centre Marcelin-Berthelot, Paris December 1950 concert program
Original vintage concert program produced for the Premiere Salon International du Jazz staged at the Salle des Congrès and the Centre Marcelin-Berthelot in Paris [France] from 1st to 5th December, 1950, organised by Charles Delaunay and Jacques Souplet and presented by “Jazz-Hot” and La Fédération des Hot-Clubs Français. Performing artists included Sidney Bechet, Don Byas, James Moody, Roy Eldridge, Claude Luter, Stan Kenton, George Shearing, Alix Combelle, Hubert Fol, Nat Peck, the Dutch Swing College Band, Claude Bolling, and many more. During each afternoon of the festival the general public could attend lectures by jazz specialists and watch film screenings. The event, however, was much more than just a music festival. At the Centre Marcelin-Berthelot Klein Pianos sponsored an “industrial and commercial fair” where record companies, record stores, instrument makers, book publishers, and radio and television manufacturers would present their products.
In original pictorial umatte-coated wrappers, staple bound, 13.5 x 21.0 cm, 52 pp. Program notes in French by Charles Delaunay and André Hodeir. Light wear to spine and extremities, else in near excellent condition, tightly bound and clean. Additional images of the program available on request.
