Westfalenhalle, Dortmund March 1979 concert poster

Original first printing concert poster advertising American musician, composer, and bandleader Frank Zappa (1940–1993) at the Westfalenhalle in Dortmund [Germany] on Sunday, 25th March, 1979, presented by Fritz Rau and Michael Scheller. The show in Dortmund was part of a lengthy European tour in support of the Sheik Yerbouti album. Produced by Zappa himself, the album represented a major turning point in Zappa’s career. The first album to be released on his own Zappa Records after his departure from Warner Bros, it emphasized the comedic aspect of his lyrics more than ever before, beginning a period of increased record sales and mainstream media attention. Sheik Yerbouti remains Zappa’s biggest selling album worldwide with over 2 million units sold to date.

The poster measures 60.1 x 84.1 cm (approx. 23.7″ by 33.1″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, coated paper stock. Just a touch of light surface handling wear, else in remarkably near excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
